David J. Greenwald ’83 has made a pledge to establish the David J. Greenwald Professorship as part of The Campaign for Columbia Law. The gift is the latest in a long history of giving for Greenwald, who is the chair of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. Greenwald previously served as international general counsel at Goldman Sachs where, in 2013 and 2008, respectively, he established the Greenwald-Goldman Sachs Scholarships at Columbia Law School in conjunction with Goldman Sachs Gives, and the David J. Greenwald Faculty Research Fund.
Long connected to the Law School, Greenwald is a member of the Dean’s Council, a former member of the International Advisory Board, and a former co-chair of his reunion committee. In 2017, he was awarded the American Jewish Committee’s Judge Learned Hand award for outstanding leaders in the legal profession. He is currently a trustee of Columbia University.
